Energy Agreement for Sustainable Growth in final phase

On August 28th, negotiators have reached agreement on an Energy Agreement for Sustainable Growth. In the next few days, the Dutch Government and the participating organisations will be discussing the results of the negotiations separately.

The Energy Agreement for Sustainable Growth was forwarded to the participating organisations today. The document is the detailed version of the arrangements that were agreed on in outline on 10 July between employers, employees, nature conservation and environmental organisations, and the Government. It builds on the contributions of numerous organisations that were involved in the various consultation tables earlier this year. The results achieved by the negotiators now need to be approved by the participating organisations.

That is the next stage in the procedure, and runs until 4 September, when the organisations are required to indicate whether they support the agreement (or the components that are relevant to them). The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets [Autoriteit Consument en Markten] is considering the competition aspects of the agreement.

The English version of the summary of the Energy Agreement for Sustainable Growth will be posted shortly on the website. The participating organisations will not comment on the content of the agreement until they have consulted those they represent.
